Authors – M.Tech. Scholar Pankaj Madheshiya, Asst. Prof. Dr. Shweta Chourasia, Asst. Prof. Dr. E.Vijay Kumar

Abstract- – A power inverter, or inverter, is a power electronic gadget or hardware that changes direct current (DC) to rotating current (AC). The voltage, yield voltage and recurrence, and generally control dealing with rely upon the structure of the particular gadget or hardware. The inverter doesn’t create any power; the power is given by the DC source. A power inverter can be completely electronic or might be a blend of mechanical impacts, (for example, a revolving contraption) and electronic hardware. Static inverters don’t utilize moving parts in the change procedure. Power inverters are fundamentally utilized in electrical power applications where high flows and voltages are available; circuits that play out a similar capacity for electronic sign, which as a rule have low flows and voltages, are called oscillators. Circuits that play out the contrary capacity, changing over AC to DC, are called rectifiers. This paper presents literature review on power conversion converter area.

Fatigue Life of a Non-Cantilever Highway Truss with Tubular Joints

Authors – Akriti Gupta, Vijay Kumar Shukla, Dr. R. N. Khare

Abstract- – The maintenance and safety of existing bridges is an important concern of all highway agencies. To assure adequate safety and to assist in assessing maintenance needs, highway bridges are periodically inspected, usually at 2-year intervals. In conjunction with such inspections, a safety rating is established by procedures given in the Manual for Maintenance Inspection of Bridges. The Manual presents detailed procedures for rating the strength capacity of steel bridges but does not give detailed procedures for assessing the safety with respect to fatigue. Instead, it suggests that the Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges hereinafter referred to as the Specifications be used as a guide in assessing fatigue strength. The fatigue provisions in the Specifications were originally adopted before adequate information was available on the fatigue conditions in actual bridges. Therefore, these provisions do not reflect the fatigue conditions that actually occur. Instead, they combine an artificially high stress range with an artificially low number of stress cycles to produce a reasonable design. Furthermore, the fatigue provisions in the Specifications are presented in terms of allowable stresses and do not indicate how to calculate the remaining life of an existing bridge, which is needed to make cost-effective decisions regarding inspection, repair, rehabilitation, replacement. Neither the Manual nor the Specifications considers secondary bending effects or cracked or repaired members. The objective of the present study is to develop practical fatigue evaluation procedures that: Realistically reflect the actual fatigue conditions in highway bridges. Give an accurate estimate of the remaining fatigue life of a bridge and permit this estimate to be updated in the future to reflect changes in traffic conditions. The report also provides information and references on several factors that are not considered directly in the proposed evaluation and design procedures: (a) secondary bending, (b) cracked members, and (c) corrosion and mechanical damage.

Authors – Phd Scholar George M. Muriuki, Dr. Mathew K. Kosgei, Prof. John M. Mutiso

Abstract- -Alcohol has become alarmingly the most routinely used and misused substance among both adults and minors in the contemporary society and its socio-economic impact is devastating. The risk factors strongly linked to alcoholism and many other problems related to alcohol use and misuse have been studied disjointedly. Different structural models illustrating relationship between alcoholism and associated risk factors have been proposed. The objective was to test if the structure of a proposed theoretical hierarchical model comprised of specific observed variables clustered to measure nine latent variables. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to test the direct effect of the latent variables of personality, gender, age at onset of alcohol taking, peer influence, drinking habits and patterns, family attention, economic status, environment and social-cultural on alcoholism. Subjects who comprised of inmates at the rehabilitation centers and current alcohol users were evaluated and completed a battery of psychosocial-related questionnaires. The initially proposed model structure was modified due to misspecifications. The modified model exhibited adequate global fit indexes (RMSEA = .06 (.056, .091), CFI =.803, SRMR=.06, χ2 (df) =1733(464) and acceptable measures of reliability. The nine factor (Gender, age at onset, drinking habits and patterns, family and family attention, economic status, personality, peer pressure, socio-cultural, and environment) alcoholism model fitted well. The findings suggest those parents’ education and living conditions, drinker’s education level, race, quantity drunk type of alcohol drunk and stress at work were significant predictors of alcoholism. Knowledge of the linkage between factors is useful in designing alcohol abuse preventive programs.

Authors- M. Tech Scholar Gyanoday Kumar, Prof. Vinay Pathak

Abstract- – Islanding is a condition in which the micro grids are disconnected from the main grid which consists of loads and distribution generation. Islanding is required whenever there is a fault and whenever the maintenance is required. Under normal condition or stable condition, the system works under constant current control mode. After islanding the system switched to voltage controlled mode. There are different methods that can be used to detect islanding situation such as active and passive methods. In this thesis SVM detection technique used for detecting islanding condition is carried out. This thesis presents a configuration and a control strategy for dynamic voltage restorer (DVR). In order to compensate the voltage of each phase separately, a closed-loop PI control law in the d-q reference frame is proposed. The proposed method provides a fast response and effective sag compensation capabilities. In addition, in order to detect voltage sag, a Space Vector Modulation (SVM) is employed to estimate three-phase voltages. By using SVM, the voltage sag can be detected faster than other conventional methods. Therefore DVR can compensate voltage sag quickly and accurately. The obtained results that are simulated in Matlab/Simulink indicate that the proposed method can mitigate the balanced and unbalanced voltage sag types efficiently in the distribution networks.

Experimental Study of the Stability of Power Systems and the Determination of Transient Operating Limits

Authors- M. Tech. Scholar Arvind Kumar, Asst. Prof. Harish Kumar, Prof. (Dr)Chandra Prakash

Abstract- – Power-system stability is a word used to describe the state of alternating-current electric power systems in which the system’s many synchronous machines are in synchronism, or “in step,” with one another. Instability, on the other hand, refers to a state in which there is a lack of synchronism, or going “out of step.” Transients are caused when a failure occurs in a power system. A load flow analysis is carried out to stabilize the system. The issue usually happens on the load side in practice. We are controlling the generator side because we are controlling the load side, which will result in a difficult problem if we do not.

Authors M. Tech. Scholar Rahul Singh, Asst. Prof. Abhishek Singh Roha

Abstract- – The influence of machining parameters on MRR and surface roughness during CNC turning of EN-31 Steel using tungsten carbide inserts. From the experimental result it is concluded that cutting speed is most significant effect on surface roughness and MRR. For minimum surface roughness optimum parameters are 0.15 mm/min feed rate, 2000 rpm speed and 0.6 mm depth of cut. Also optimum parameters for MRR were 0.3 mm/min feed rate, 1600 rpm speed, 0.6 mm depth of cut. Based on the Taguchi approach and ANOVA results obtained from the analysis. Optimum parameter setting for material removal rate is found at feed rate, spindle speed of 1250 rpm and 0.6 mm depth of cut i.e. S2F3D3 From the ANOVA it was found that percentage contribution of depth of cut 69 % has the most significant effect followed by speed (16.69%) and feed rate (6.4%) for MRR. Optimum parameter levels for surface roughness is found at 0.1 mm/rev feed rate, 0.2 mm depth of cut and 1250 rpm speed From the ANOVA results that feed rate (57.77%) has maximum contributing factor for surface roughness. Depth of cut with contribution of 14.88% has little influence on surface roughness. From the confirmation test for the optimal settings for MRR observed that increase in S/N ratio from the initial parameters 7.49 dB. Also from the confirmation test for surface roughness it is observed that increase in S/N ratio from the initial parameter 3.59 db.

A Review on Investigation of Performance of Organic Rankine Cycle-Vapor Compression Refrigeration System Using Different Refrigerant

Authors- M. Tech. Scholar Amjad Fahad Usmani, Prof. Dr. M. K. Chopra

Abstract:- -Nowadays, there are numerous attempts in the utilization of renewable energies such as geothermal heat, wind energy, and solar energy as clean energy sources for electricity production or cooling processes. Also, waste heat can be considered as renewable and clean energy, since it is free energy and there is no direct carbon emission. Waste heat can be rejected at a wide range of temperatures depending on the industrial processes. A large number of existing studies in the literature have only examined the energy analysis of combined cycle. Therefore, it should be noted that little attention has been given to the selection of appropriate functional fluids. However, the novelty of this study is the energy and energy analysis of the combined cycle (ORC-VCR) using four organic fluids R236fa, RC318, R245fa and R600a which is the main goal of this study.

Advanced Load Balancing Approach Using Machine Learning for Virtual Machine Migration

Authors – Pushpendra Singh, Prof. Vinod Patel, Prof. Gaurav Nayak, Dr. Ashish Kumar Khare

Abstract:- -Cluster administrators use live VM migration to separate hardware and software considerations, consolidate clustered hardware into a single coherent management domain, and simplify fault management and load balancing. A planned scenario is live migration. Move a running virtual machine from one host to another with no downtime for the VM using live migration. During migration, the guest OS’s TCP connections are maintained. The VM is unaware of the migration and is referred to as a “black box.” The current system is based on a mechanism for predicting future load. This factor is used to allocate VM resources and optimize migration. There are no adequate criteria for unique identification and location of VMs during this VM migration, which indicates which VMs are transferred and where they are migrated. This work exhibits Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) based on VM resource migration strategy to achieve system load balancing in a cloud computing environment to offer a better way for handling the problem of VM resource migration in a cloud computing environment.

Abstract:- -Desalination is a process that takes away mineral components from saline water. Desalination could be an option to provide drinking water in many places where this is a scarce resource and seawater is available. However, technologies for desalination are energy intensive, and conventional energy is becoming expensive worldwide, thus making desalination an expensive process. The two major types of technologies that are used around the world for desalination can be broadly classified as either thermal or membrane. Both technologies need energy to operate and produce fresh water. And here we are developing a prototype of solar powered desalination using reservoir and solar cells to provide thermal energy for the desalination process. Heat is provided at different areas of reservoir and then condense the water vapour to get pure water.

Abstract:- -Different methods and tools have been developed to extract and comprehend content in multiple language variants. According to our findings, there is no reliable method for translating image text. Throughout the book, the text and image styles change dramatically. It can benefit people from all over the world, especially those who do not speak the language. Changing text in an image, on the other hand, is nearly impossible for a variety of reasons. Because of the limited number of characters we have at our disposal, visual clarity is difficult to achieve. Even if the text is being translated into a different language, the use of task-specific fonts will be required. The use of an algorithm we’ve already developed to interpret and recognize the language of scene text, as well as to translate scene text between languages, is one of the key components of our strategy. Using our method, which allows image text to be modified, the text scene can be translated into multiple languages.

Authors- Ritu Bhalavi, Asst. Prof. Mohit Verma

Abstract:- -A highway pavement is a structure consisting of superimposed layers of processed materials above the natural soil sub-grade, whose primary function is to distribute the applied vehicle loads to the sub-grade. The pavement structure should be able to provide a surface of acceptable riding quality, adequate skid resistance, favorable light reflecting characteristics, and low noise pollution. The ultimate aim is to ensure that the transmitted stresses due to wheel load are sufficiently reduced, so that they will not exceed bearing capacity of the sub-grade. Two types of pavements are generally recognized as serving this purpose, namely flexible pavements and rigid pavements. This chapter gives an overview of pavement types, layers, and their functions, and pavement failures. Improper design of pavements leads to early failure of pavements affecting the riding quality.

They contribute to the taste and texture of fermented products and inhibit food spoilage bacteria by producing growth inhibiting substances and large amounts of lactic acid. LAB is a group of Gram positive, non-spore forming cocci or rods, catalase negative, produce lactic acid only or other acids or ethanol and gases. . In a mixed lactic culture, enumeration of each group of LABS is difficult as one may predominate on others. These lactic cultures used in fermented milk products require enumeration and sometimes isolation using selective media. M17 agar, ST agar, LUMS, MRS agar and bifidobacteria agar are used for selective enumeration of lactococci, Streptococcus thermophilus, leuconostoc, lactobacilli and bifidobacteria respectively, by serial dilution and anaerobic incubation at optimum growth temperature of the genus 30°C or 37°C. If fermented milk has yeast and aerobic spore formers as contaminants then any of them predominate and isolation of the LAB become difficult. Addition of antimycotic (Nystatin, sodium benzoate) and antisporulating (calcium propionate) agents into the selective lactic acid media may help in controlling the contaminants from LAB.
